John Sheedy Bottom Fishing Charter

Had John on board with his son John, and Dad, three generations of Sheedy's always the best days. Brought along "Blackfish Bobby", and son "The Puller" Andrew with buddy Anthony "Red Gatorade" Schinella. Worked over a dozen wrecks with minimal results, a dozen keeper seabass, lots of shorts, ling, tog and short fluke, wish I had better catch report, but not in the cards for a great crew. Totally frustrated, but the kids made it fun today, Anthony S, was one of my star forwards during the winter-spring basketball season so it brought back some good memories!

Saturday Split Charter Marathon

On Saturday I had a ten hour marathon for seabass, mudhole wrecks and then some stripers. Left the dock at 8 and headed close by for some seabass. First stop was ok on some new piece of bottom I was trying out but not enough keepers so next drop in 65 foot was much better with the guys boating 30 keepers. After that it was off to the east end for some deeper wrecks. We set up on a piece in 155 foot and we got into a nice pick of cod, ling and seabass along with alot of pout. Made a move a few miles farther off in 115 foot and it was game on with the cod. The guys landed around 25 cod on that piece. Eight of those were keepers with the rest just short. Along with fat ling it made for some nice action. Around 4pm we started heading back in to do some stripers. Well the stripers were nowhere to be found for us so we got back in at 6pm only to wait 2.5 hours for the bridge. That sucked but the rest of the day was awesome!

Extreme Bottom Fishing with the Ron Nobile Charter

Had Ron out again for an offshore trip with buddies Mike and Chris, and had Ed "Eamon", fill out a last minute cancellation in Ron's crew. Plan was to start tilefishing in the canyon then come inshore for Cod-Pollack. Weather changed those plans made 2 drops 20 miles inshore of the canyons and had instant bites on cod, but each time the doggies covered us up. Decided to make a run for tiles, once there the drift was a slow one, making it hard to cover ground. However, did manage a couple of firsts, popped Chris's cherry on tiles, but his double header 20lbs Tile had a 20lb Snowy Grouper, a first for Andreas Toy. Picked another small tile, and it was over. Had intentions to run to another canyon, but conditions didn't allow it. Made another run inshore and again hit a wreck and first fish was Cod and some ling, until the doggies covered us up again.
