December Sea Bass, Cod, and Bluefin

Great trip today with my best regulars! The plan was offshore seabass and got easy boat limits of fish to 6lbs and cod to 20lbs. Decided to chase tuna afterwards, first drift casting got a nice fat 65 incher.

Chris Panza Stripers

Had Chris Panza and the boys out today. Striper fishing lights out! Season isn't done give us a call to get out while the bite is still hot.

Joe Roszkowski Stripers

Capt Greg and Shane had the Roszkowskis with Joe in from Florida. Definitely a change of weather from sunny Miami but the fish were hungry. Never got hot and heavy but had a handful of doubles for the father son duo and ended with about 25 fish. Had steady action throughout the whole day on diamond jigs and Kroc spoons.

Vinny Thurston Stripers

Capt Greg and Shane had Vinny Thurston and crew out today on the 31. The stripers ate pretty good and the guys stuck it out in the breeze. Biggest fish was Glick's 39" in addition to our boat limit of keepers and bonus tag fish.

George Striper Slam. High hook 30+

Another day of excellent fishing! Had George and the two Jim's out today. Ended with 56 fish between the three guys and George was high hook in the low 30's. Can't ask for much better than that.

Rob Fornes Striper Crush

Had first timer Rob Fornes on the boat with a bunch of great guys, including my son Antonio 's boss John Becklemen, started the trip with fish spraying in all directions, already up over 30 fish in the first hour.

Todd Craig Stripers

Had Todd and the boys back and had another sick striper bite. Got our limit on the first drift and went into release mode, calling it an early day. Landing easily over 25 fish. Fishing has been unreal.

Jeff Speruto Stripers

Had longtime regular Jeff Speruto back. Brought his son and his buddies, found a few pods of bunker with fish. Found one that was the mother lode, every drift had 2-3 on, ended the day, left them biting!

Nick Honachefsky Stripers

Had one of the funnest days of the year. Shot an episode with host Nick Honachefsky of Salt water Underground and guest angler Bass master Champion Mike Iaconelli. Started out in bunker pods, lots of dogfish and few bites. Made a run and found the fish all to ourselves for the remainder of the day. All the fish on light tackle on the surface, easily landed over 30 fish. Thanks to Capt Jamar on the assist, and camera men Ryan and Alec. Cant wait to do it again with this dynamic duo!

Roger Stripers

Had Roger and the gang out for stripers. Got on some good action under the birds and the guys went to work despite a couple guys not fishing. Got our limit of keepers and bonus tag fish and released many more. Back out after this wind lets up

Todd Craig Bluefin

Had regular Todd Craig back with  buddy Tommy. Got out to the tuna grounds and Todd put the boots to a nice fat 65 incher, cinching the deal in half an hour. Got on some stripers to end the trip and got back to the dock by lunchtime. Great half day of fishing!

George Stripers

Sunday afternoon Capt Greg had George and the gang out for stripers. Found some fast moving fish but very hard to catch. Caught a bunch off one pile of blitzing fish and then the next they wouldn't sniff any of our various jigs. Kept run and gunning and put together a good catch. High hook was George with 9. 

Kyle Miller - Dads first striper

On Sunday morning Capt Greg had Kyle Miller for stripers. Slower pick on the jigs early but did what we had to do and put some fish in the boat for his dad- his first striper! Tons of boats out so we bounced around on the way home and caught a bunch more away from the boats. Guys ended up with a limit of keepers and one short of our limit of bonus tag fish. 

Nick K Stripers

Capt Greg and Jimmy had Nick and the Clifton boys out today for their first time striper fishing and it was one of the best bites of the year. Bass blowing bait out of the water as far as you could see. This is how fall fishing should be!!! Headed home early with a full limit of keepers and bonus tag fish. Released a handful of overs with the biggest going 44".

Mat Ronca Stripers

Had regular Mat Ronca back with son Max and all the boys. Had great action earlier with Brent getting his first bass ever a nice 45 incher. Got over 30 fish during morning. Ended the day with a liveline/bunker spoon bite.

Frank D Stripers

Made our way out this morning and netted our bait easily in the bay. Bounced around in the bunker then ran to a good jig bite and got on some good fishing. Never crazy hot and heavy but had a couple doubles and triple. Ended up with a full boat limit of keepers and bonus tag fish throwing back a bunch of lucky keeper sized bass for another day.

Had Larry Deluise out with buddies Scott, Joe and Joe. Made our way through the fog and got on a great jig bite in schools of peanut bunker landing close to 30 up to 45 inches. Finished the day livelining getting all slobs

Todd Craig Raritan Bay Stripers

Capt Greg and Kenny had Todd Craig out today for stripers. Made our bait in a couple throws and thankful we did since the fish under the birds were tough to catch. Put together a solid catch on the live baits boxing our limit and releasing a bunch more.

Kevin Barbalet Stripers

Capts Greg and Kenny had Kevin Barbalet and friends out today for stripers. Finally the bunker showed up and we went to work loading up the wells. Had a solid bite live lining, no huge fish but some overs in the mix along with a boat limit of keepers. Got a little bouncy so we poked around in the calmer waters.

Dan Kelly Stripers

Had Dan Kelly out this morning, found a new batch of fish that was moving quickly and caught some there with a couple of keepers mixed in. Made a run and got on some bigger fish up to 42" on diamond jigs. 

Shane Stripers

Capt Greg had Shane and friends out and it was excellent fishing from start to finish. Big stripers up to just shy of 40lbs all on casting metals and swim shads. Didn't manage to get all four guys hooked up at once but triples, doubles, and constant action was the norm. 

Shaping up to be great fishing the whole fall and can't wait to see what happens when these fish connect with the bunker.

Rich Serpe Stripers

Kelly Family Striper Crush!

Had the Kelly family out this afternoon. Took a ride and found some excellent striper fishing - all big over sized fish. Matt caught the biggest which was 48" and was previously tagged, not bad for his first striper! Diamond jigs and small spoons were the ticket.

Tom Connell Canyon Trip

Had Tom Connell and the boys out today. Started out with a dozen mahi, not much happening with tuna so did a tile drift to spice up the box with close to 20. Shifted to tuna and got into a nice jig bite, had to weed through the skippies but landed yellows to 60lbs and broke off way too many.

Todd Craig Stripers

Had regular Todd Craig with buddies today, plan was to run for tuna/mahis but mother nature had other plans. Switched boats and did an exploratory Striper trip on the 31FA. Found some stripers and will hopefully start seeing some better quantity in the coming weeks.

Todd Craig Offshore Trip

Had Todd Craig back with the boys Nick, Tom and Mark. None of the guys had any saltwater offshore experience. Started the trip away from the fleet, by ourselves and had some fun,

once the fish came under the boat  game was on! Dropped the Nomad jigs in 120 and 80 grams and games was on. All the guys popped there tuna cherries! After that went jigging for tiles on the nomad jigs, all of them popped their tilefish cherries on Streaker and ridgeback in larger sizes. Got the trifecta on mahis popping all the guys tuna cherries on 20 gram ridgebacks. Ended the trip jigging juvenile bluefin on the 20 gram ridgebacks for Bluefin Collaborative fin clip study. Great day for the boys
