Canyon Trip with Oscar Carillo and Touney Showing

Had longtime offshore regular Oscar with buddy Randy
On board to fish the first day of the Manasquan River
Club Tuna tournament. Started chunking at the inshore
Spot and only had albies. Made a sprint to the canyon
And started out mahi fishing landed a dozen of them
Putting us in first place for the time being. Then we went
On the hunt for tuna, found the pilot whales and went to
Work, Oscar got us started, then Randy got involved.
When the dust settled we went 3-4 on nice sized yellows.
Decided to head in early to the scales. We were the first boat
To weigh in at the scales and made a good showing. Won the
Daily Calcutta and in the Running for a few categories.
Congrats to Randy Landing his first tuna and it being our $
Fish, and Oscar and Jimmy for a great job rounding out the crew.

Greg Hopf -NJH Thomas Elefante Bass Tournament

On Saturday we had out Greg Hopf, his sons Chris and Jason, his brother Harold and good friends Mark and Mike for the annual NJH Thomas Elefante Bass tournament. We left the dock just before 6 and made the decision to head back to where we had the fish the night prior. Shortly after getting to the area we started marking some fish here and there. Guys were picking a fish every now and again but it was very slow. Heard fo a few fish caught to the north but decided to stick with my gut and keep pounding away where we were at which turned out to be a good decision. Our fist bite came around noon and the guys were then able to put 6 fish in the box by 1:30 up to 33.5lbs. We headed in at 1:45 so the guys could make their weigh in. They ended up taking 1st with the 33.5lb and also had top 4 heaviest fish taking the Calcutta.

All fish in this trip & the day prior came on TGT Bunker Spoons

Manhattan Cup 1st Place Live Release Division

Got introduced to my assigned team, Team Consolidated Carpet with members Dave, Sean, Rich, and Art. Not knowing their abilities or attitude the original plan was to fish the river for quantity, however I got a great vibe from these guys so as we were leaving the dock I turned to my mate Mike Tyas and told him we are going for broke. Pointed the nose south and ran 50 miles to the spot. Once we got there we had 5 fish in the first 15 minutes, the coolest thing however was watching 100's of Bass popping bunker out of the water. Feeling good about the fish we had in the release tube, we ran into the river to try to win the release category. That plan fell apart no tide. Decided to run back to the weigh station early to insure our fish would survive, actually was the first boat out of the 58 that entered the tournament weigh in. Sweated it out for an hour until it was official. Congrats to angler Art for landing the fish. Tournament was well run and good to meet some new captains and great to see old friends.
